Goderich Mayor Kevin Morrison is playing his cards close to his vest so far, as to whether he will run for re-election in 2018.
A municipal election will be held late this year, in addition to the provincial election that's expected in June.
Morrison hints that if he does run and is re-elected, that his second term would be his last.
He believes two terms would be enough, after which it would be time to turn over the Mayor's chair to someone with fresh ideas for the future.
Morrison expects budget deliberations in February to go smoothly, and points to minimal property tax increases in Goderich over the past several years.
He says Council will stick to a fiscally responsible spending plan in 2018, that focuses on services the town needs.
Morrison says like any municipality, Goderich faces challenges but continues to move forward at a pace he calls "smart growth".
He mentions the lack of provincial funding for projects and services will continue to be an issue for Council in the New Year.
